SETTING
The city of white stone you arrive in probably has a name, but all of its signage is written in a language none of its new arrivals speak. What can be said for sure is that it is thoroughly abandoned. Evidence can be found that its inhabitants left in a hurry: here, a packed bag, dropped and left behind, there, a table set for a meal that was never served. Whoever these people were, their way of life stopped very suddenly one day.

The city is set into the side of the mountain, with an open area three miles wide and one mile deep, contained by a high perimeter wall. The Industrial District on the East side is the highest elevation of the city, with water draining via streams and a multitude of small waterfalls through the other districts. Most of the ornamental waterfalls are blocked up and clogged by now, but it's clear it was once a very beautiful display. None of the bridges over the streams and rivers are still intact. An overhang forms a cavern toward the back of the city, and a second residential district is protected underneath it and behind several sealed gates. It was once where the city's wealthy resided, but a lot of effort has gone into cutting it off from the rest of the city.
The city seems to have once been usually clean and well-kempt, although that isn't the case at the moment. Currently giant swaths of the city are in ruin, with great holes in some of the crumbling buildings, as if something very large had torn a zig-zagging path through the area. The streets are lined with refuse, from torn-apart buildings, to outright trash, to personal belongings dropped or otherwise cast aside. One thing surprisingly absent, though, are bodies: outside the plantlife, there is nothing organic in the streets at all, not even animal life. Graffiti mars what buildings are still intact, hasty scrawls in the same language as all the signage. Most of it looks like messages left behind, rather than anything aesthetic.
Any gardens have largely withered without care or attention, although the city's parks still sustain some flora. What trees still stand, while unlike any species seen on Earth, are doing well enough for themselves. Ornamental outdoor plants have followed in the footsteps of gardens, but the flora built to sustain the altitude and climate clings on and has grown wild. What was formerly a garden district, more recently converted into a shanty town, has run absolutely wild in the absence of tending. It currently stands as a heavily littered, overgrown temperate jungle.
There is a fairly extensive sewage system under the streets, currently filled with stagnant, unmoving water. The air is usually chill and very thin; the city is at a high altitude, and new arrivals may find themselves easily out of breath until they adapt. The sky is typically overcast, the clouds high and uniformly white, with little humidity.
The city's storages throughout various buildings are surprisingly well stocked, and their preservation technology is impressive. Short term, the new arrivals have plenty of food and water to last them. Long term could be something of an issue.
TECHNOLOGY The technology left behind is fairly advanced, although alien to anyone from Earth, and currently dead and unpowered. Personal vehicles can be found stopped along streets and in garages, and military vehicles are stalled out in patrol patterns toward the edges of the city. None of them run at the moment, although a good mechanic might be able to fix that. Computer terminals can be found within professional buildings; currently their power sources are long dead and whatever secrets they hold are locked up tight.
THE WALL An immense wall surrounds the side of the city not protected by natural mountain bluffs, fifty feet high and ten feet thick, made of white stone. Guard outposts are set at regular intervals around it, all of them locked. No buildings within the city are built high enough to see whatever may lay beyond the walls.
ENEMIES This will be updated as information is found.
OUTSIDE THE CITY All that can definitively be said is that the city is situated somewhere in mountainous terrain, and it's mostly rock outside the city's walls. Not many trees grow here, what few there are are sparse but hardy. There seems to be no wildlife of any kind. It's almost cold enough for snow, but the temperature perpetually stays just warm enough to stave it off. This will be updated as information is found.
